Commitment Issues: A Love Story in White & Taupe
Sometimes you have to go on a few awkward dates before you can fully commit to the one you loved all along. For Foxridge, that meant rendering the house in white, in taupe, in moody darks, and in brick—only to come running back to our original crush: White Duck brick with Natural Tan cedar.
The form of the house, imagined by Tony Frazier, feels like a European estate that both sprawls and tucks in, hiding surprises behind arches and gates. Materials were chosen with aging in mind—stone, copper, cedar, and pea gravel—because imperfection is what makes them beautiful.
After countless renderings, six sample walls, and one dramatic repaint, the final palette feels effortless and inevitable. Add in a soaring steel front door, handmade gates, and a tree-lined outdoor “room,” and the result is as much mystery as it is grandeur.
This house is essentially a private country club—with all the perks and none of the socializing. A dream, really.
Color Journal: Green
In our early stages of playing and dreaming on The Foxridge House, we collected images that represented our client’s interests and personalities. All of these images turned up a very literal, unmistakable thread of the shades of green that eventually wove its way into the house, both in big ways and small.
